That’s the best way to describe Alice Nine, a Visual Kei J-Rock group that has appeared in anime seires such as “Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D.” From Shou’s commanding tenor voice to Tora’s dominating rhythm guitar, you get an immediate sense that each band is on the same page as far as what note to play and when to play it. There’s not much in the way of experimental riffs in Alice Nine’s music (a la Takuya of Judy and Mary). Even in Hiroto’s guitar solos (where he displays a certain mastery of the instrument), there’s not much deviation from the melody of the song he’s playing.

While doing some research for my post on the band “Alice Nine,” I ran across a LiveJournal blog about J-Rock. Unfortunately, the second post was about how the author felt that he/she had to remove some content because people were not properly crediting the author’s work.

If you paid attention to Japanese rock and pop music at all during the 90’s, you are bound to have run across the band Judy and Mary. If you’re a fan of the Anime Ruroni Kenshin, you’re likely familiar with the band’s only Number 1 hit Sobakasu.And if you’ve been paying close attention to Japanese music, you’ve probably run across Yuki of Judy and Mary’s solo music.

Judy and Mary were at their career’s apex when they broke up in 2001. In fact, many fans and critics revere their final album “Warp” as the band’s best overall album.
